Under Construction – The Municipal Parking Garage in Downtown Toms River

The next phase of construction to the parking garage adjacent to our building is underway. The construction will cause the top level to remain closed most likely till the end of the month. In addition to making modifications to the structure, solar panels are being added. Parking in our lot and around the downtown area has been limited and will continue to be limited until the construction is complete. If you are coming to our offices or anywhere in the downtown area, please use extreme caution when driving.

Sensory Friendly Films Program to Show Pirates! Band of Misfits

Today is the last day of Autism Awareness Month.  In order to highlight the growing need for concern and awareness about Autism, the United States recognizes April as a special opportunity for everyone to educate the public about Autism and issues within the Autism community.

In a great program, AMC Theatres (AMC) and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities a special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis with the “Sensory Friendly Films” program.

In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. Additionally, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing.

Special Needs Trust Lunch and Learn in Red Bank, NJ

Annemarie Schreiber will be joining representatives of Merrill Lynch for a Lunch and Learn hosted at the Merrill Lynch offices in Red Bank today, Wednesday, April 25^th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.  The Lunch and Learn will focus on Special Needs Trusts and will give insightful information to families dealing with family members with special needs.

New Special Needs Community in New Brunswick, NJ

The groundbreaking ceremonies recently took place for the Promise House located in New Brunswick.  The Promise House is an affordable-housing community dedicated for people who are at risk or experiencing homelessness and have special needs.  State Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency joined local offices in the groundbreaking ceremonies.  The Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency is an affiliate of the state Department of Community Affairs. The agency provided approximately $1 million in permanent financing and construction financing for the project from the Special Needs Housing Trust Fund.  The Special Needs Housing Trust Fund is administered by the Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency and provides capital financing to create affordable, permanent, supportive housing and community residences for individuals with special needs. The purpose is to develop special-needs housing and residential opportunities as alternatives to institutionalization or homelessness for those who would benefit from these programs and to ensure the long-term viability of such housing.

Homecare.com – An Online Resource for Helping an Aging Relative

With more and more people being thrust into caring for an aging relative and being ill equipped to do so, it is oftentimes comforting to know that there is a resource out there to help navigate through the maze that caring for an aging relative often presents. Homecare.com is a new, free online destination for caregivers that provides comprehensive educational resources, decision-making tools and ongoing support that will help family caregivers learn, thrive and find their way through the care-giving maze.  It is reassuring to know that there is an online site to seek answers or to use as a starting point so that caregivers may feel more confident in the topics he or she may want to discuss with the various professionals involved in the aging relative’s life.  As always, the elder law attorneys at CLDDS are also ready, willing and able to answer any questions you may have related to the legal issues presenting a caregiver as well as the community resources available for the aging relative.

Elderly Couple are Targets of Telephone Scam

Back in October, I blogged about my participation in a seminar about Senior Scams.  I mentioned that Donna Gould from Investors Savings and Cindy Boyd from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office also participated in the seminar.   Today, the Toms River Patch features an article about a Toms River couple that was recently scammed out of  $1,900.  Please read the article:  Senior Citizen Couple Falls Prey To Telephone Scam.  The best defense against these unsavory characters is to be knowledgeable about their scams!

Today, the American Bar Association will host a webinar titled “Ethics Essentials for Successful Online Legal Marketing”. Diana L. Anderson was asked to be a part of the Distinguished Faculty for this webinar along with Larry Bodine, John Barkett and Jeff Lantz. A combination of being in the right place at the right time and a strong internet presence lead to Diana being asked to participate.

Anderson, Felicetta and Petro have been named to the 2012 New Jersey Super Lawyer and Rising Stars lists

Diana L. Anderson has been named to the New Jersey Super Lawyers list, an honor awarded to no more than 5 percent of New Jersey attorneys. Louis A. Felicetta and Jonathan Z. Petro have been named to the New Jersey Rising Stars list, an honor awarded to no more than 2.5 percent of New Jersey attorneys.

Those recognized on the New Jersey Super Lawyer list as a top attorney and on the New Jersey Rising Stars list as a top up-and-coming attorney are selected using a rigorous multi‐phased process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area.

Diana L. Anderson, a partner of the Toms River Law Firm of Carluccio, Leone, Dimon Doyle & Sacks L.L.C., has been named to the 2012 New Jersey Super Lawyer list. She was first named to the New Jersey Rising Stars list in 2006 and in 2007 received recognition as a New Jersey Super Lawyer. Anderson is a Certified Elder Law Attorney focusing her practice in the areas of Elder Law, Estate Planning & Probate and Estate & Trust Litigation. Anderson is a graduate of Rutgers University School of Law, JD (1991), and Boston University, BS (1988). Louis A. Felicetta, a partner of the firm, has been named to the 2012 New Jersey Rising Stars. Felicetta was first named to the list in 2009 and again in 2010. Louis A. Felicetta practices in the areas of General Litigation, Construction Litigation and Land Use/Zoning.  Felicetta is a graduate of Widener University School of Law, JD (2000), and the University of Rhode Island, BA (1996). In 2000, he was admitted to the New Jersey Bar and to the Federal District Court of New Jersey.

 

Jonathan Z. Petro, an associate of the firm, has been named to the 2012 New Jersey Rising Stars list making this his fourth consecutive year since 2009.  Petro focuses his practice in the areas of family law and real estate.  He is a graduate of Rutgers University School of Law, JD (2004) and University of Richmond, BA (2001).  Throughout law school, Petro was a law clerk for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 2005.  He is an active member of the Ocean County Bar Association and community organizations, including the Ocean County YMCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ocean County.

Ronald E. Prusek and Louis A. Felicetta – Partners of CLDDS

Ronald Prusek joined the firm in 2007 as “of counsel” and has concentrated his practice in the area of commercial and civil litigation, appellate practice and mediation. Prusek is a R 1:40 Qualified Mediator and Arbitrator and has been the recipient of the prestigious AV Rating from Martindale Hubbell for the past ten years. He received his A.B. from Princeton University and his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law.  Prusek was admitted to the New Jersey and U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey Bars in 1974 and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1987.  He is a member of the N.J. State Civil Trial Bar Executive Committee, a former member of N.J. District IIIA Ethics Committee and a trustee of the Ocean County Bar Association. He has also taught continuing legal education classes for the Ocean County Bar Association. Prusek is a competitive sailor and member of the U.S. Sailing Association.

Louis A. Felicetta joined the firm in 2002 focusing his legal practice in the areas of commercial litigation, municipal land use, zoning and planning, residential and commercial real estate transactions and bankruptcy. Felicetta has been named a New Jersey Rising Star for 2009, 2010 and 2012. He received his B.A. from University of Rhode Island and his J.D. from Widener University School of Law. He is also a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Ocean County Bar Association where he serves on the land use committee and bankruptcy committee. Felicetta is a native of Toms River, graduating from High School North in 1992.
